Well, now that the final week of June is upon me, I suppose that I should squeeze in another paltry entry. Nothing frightfully interesting happening in my neck 'o the woods. Well...possibly a rolling blackout (although, since it's now 10:00 pm, I doubt I'm in danger of one). If you hate Californians, this is your time to gloat. Although, your time might be coming -- remember, we in the West set the trends. Like it or not.

Ah, those rolling blackouts. In the afternoon, when it's hot, do I tempt fate and turn on my little fan? And perhaps an extra overhead light (hmmm, a dilemma: do I risk a power outage or my eyesight?)? It's a bit sad, going into stores with their lights dimmed to save energy. Makes one feel as if one has entered some gloomy futuristic film (a'la Bladerunner). At the gym all the glitzy neon signs are turned off. Eh, who needs a fancy-schmanzy bright sign proclaiming CARDIO anyway?

UltraDev. Need I say more?I'm taking classes in Dreamweaver UltraDev since it's no longer enough to know Dreamweaver alone. ASP, JSP, ColdFusion -- that's what everyone wants. Yep, gotta learn more programming. I spent a chunk of today installing UltraDev 4, along with installing Microsoft PWS (Personal Web Server) and ColdFusion 4.5. I also had to make sure that I had the proper database drivers (like Access's drivers) and Microsoft SQL server. Ugh -- I barely know what to do with this stuff right now. Luckily I know the Dreamweaver side of things well enough.

I also upgraded to Fireworks 4, a much smoother version than 3. After experiencing mucho frustration with version 3, I'm finally enjoying this newer version. Now I might actually make more use of the program (now that it's become *fun*). 'Course, Fireworks will NEVER take the place of my beloved Photoshop 6.0.

On the job front: Still trolling for Web work. I've applied online to several *creatives* staffing companies, and haven't gotten an interview yet. I guess with all the dot.bomb layoffs, there is a glut of talent out there (read: My Competition). What a time to change careers, eh? The way it's looking, I might have to take the random clerical scullionry temp position. 'Course, now I'm "over-qualified" for simple clerical crap. It's getting bleak, kiddies. Sigh.
