This beginning a new month's entry in the second week is becoming a bit of a habit of late. Ah well, it takes me this long to compile all and sundry bits of minutiae for you, my tiny audience. I've been tempted to hang a Photoshop'd sign on the main page: "Out of Order Until Further Notice." But I plod on, unwilling to give up -- even if it means I'll only post twice a month. (I guess setting up a Blog would be a waste of time... )

I ordered new eyeglasses on Saturday. I was tired of wearing my big googly-oogly wires which take over nearly half my face. I've been eschewing contact lenses lately because the dratted edema has revisited my right eye. So...while I love wearing my contacts, I'm going to have to wear them sparingly for the moment whilst my stoopid eye heals. (How did the edema return, you ask? Well...let's just say that my right eye does not like warm compresses.) Once my eye heals, I'm only going to be wearing contacts part-time so I wanted some really cool peepers.

My Armani. Yes, as in Giorgio.I found these small oval pewter-colored Giorgio Armani frames ($289 -- yikes!) at JC Penney. Now I can actually say that I own something by Armani. Well, I did wear Armani perfume in the early eighties, but the scent was just too strong for my sinuses. (BTW, the only fragrances I ever wear are Paris by Yves Saint Laurent and Escape by Calvin Klein. Just thought I'd mention that... ) I also ordered some really sleek black prescription sunglasses -- no more clip-on shades for me, heh.

I have to get my eyes examined for glasses tomorrow, unfortunately. Apparently my last (current) eye exam was *only* for my contact lens prescription and so West Coast Eyecare Associates won't fax a prescription to JC Penney. So, instead of going to West Coast Eyecare for that exam (and paying $69 for the exam), I'll just let JC Penny's optometrist do the exam for $49. Jeez. I hate eye exams -- the stoopid Snellen Chart, choosing which lens is clearer than the other... And, of course, because this prescription is for eyeglasses, they'll have to put those drops in my eyes to dilate my pupils (to check the retina). Ugh. I'd rather go to the dentist. Seriously. (Actually, I have to confess -- I loooove having my teeth cleaned. Any minor discomfort doesn't bother me a bit. I think of it as...uh...a gum massage. Yes, I know I'm weird.)

Anyway. I'm looking forward to wearing really cool glasses for a change -- smaller, much smaller ones. I have a lot of small wire sunglasses and have gotten quite used to the size. Plus, my prescription is pretty high (right eye: -8.00, left eye: -6.50), which is why I always get the high-index plastic lenses (polycarbon lenses are too blurry for me). Now, with much smaller frames, my lenses won't look like coke bottles -- and they'll be decidely lighter. I can't wait for those new peepers! Woo-hoo!

Yes, I've been watching Big Brother 2. "Reality show" junkie that I am -- and hey, I watched the first Big Brother. And Survivor II. But I didn't watch Temptation Island, and have no plans to watch the re-do either. The only reality shows I watch are Survivor, Big Brother, Cops, Real World and Road Rules. And I'm stickin' to 'em.

Jeez, I hope they vote Kent outa the house. I don't care how *nice* he was to Bunky, the creep's still a homophobic ultra-right winger. I'm just waiting for him to tell the housemates what a *great guy* Prez-Select Smirk is. You know it's coming.

I don't know if this counts for anything, but I've been trying to dream my way through a portion of Mind Diver's plot. I was listening to "La Serenissima" on Loreena McKennitt's album, The Book of Secrets, and I envisioned a whole scene in London's Vauxhall Gardens. I guess I'll have to listen to that song again...
