And we thought Rich was ruthless in his pursuit of prize money. Now George Boswell (aka Chicken George) of Big Brother has a "Save George" campaign going which extends beyond the boundaries of the BB house -- galvanized by his scheming, money-hungry, big-mouth-bass wife. I mean, there's nothing wrong with hometown pride. But last night's installment revealed the insidious "Save George, Vote Brittany Out" phone-bank polling in George's hometown of Rockford, Illinois. Why target Brittany specifically and not just urge that "anyone but George" be voted out? Because George, Wife and Company know that Brittany is a threat and must be sacrificed ("No hard feelings, darlin'," George would probably say, giving Brit a wink and a pat on the shoulder. "Nuttin' personal neither. Y'know -- but we've got the 500 grand already spent. Er...I mean my wife has it spent, I guess. HehBye-bye-Britney.jpg (3945 bytes), heh, heh.") Gee, and just when Brit had finally found a decent hair color, too. Okay, so she's a little whiny and annoying at times...okay... maybe a lot whiny and annoying. But I'll take her any day over smarmy, mealy-mouthed George. Talk about a player -- how about the time he got Eddie all worked up (which isn't hard to do, apparently) about Curtis, complaining that Curtis considers him (George) intellectually inferior because he didn't go to college (ummm, George, perhaps it's your penchant for double-negatives which has Curtis's knickers in a twist). So Eddie mumbles beneath his pillow, "Well, I just changed my vote, George. Curtis is outta here." And in a small, condescending voice, George says, "Oh, I didn't mean for ya to do that, Eddie. But, y'know, Curtis isn't really very nice to me..." And Eddie soothes him, "Don't worry, George -- Curtis has it coming." Man! Oh, and that airplane towing the the banner message, "Vote for George, Save Brittany" -- c'mon! You just know that stunt was a bit of reverse psychology orchestrated by the Save George Campaign™.

VoteGeorgeOut!.gif (20285 bytes)So, for those of you willing to fork over 99 cents for the next Banishment Vote™, let's start a new campaign. Let's call it the...oh...I dunno...how about the "Vote George Outta the House" campaign. Not very original, but it's concise and in keeping with the spirit of The Game that George and Company are now playing. I mean, only one man has been voted out so far (William, aka Mega) -- which leaves us with only two women left, Cassandra and Jamie (well...and Chiquita, the pug, who can't be voted out. Heh). I'll stop watching the show if Cassandra and Jamie are voted out. Well... unless Josh, Curtis and Eddie decide to parade around the house au naturel, of course.

Well, sorry for going on about these reality shows...I lead such an exciting life, you see. Um. That was a bit of sarcasm.

Anyway, I've decided to take some classes this fall in order to sharpen my skills in Photoshop, HTML and Dreamweaver 3. I'll also be taking courses in Flash 4 and JavaScript. I missed out on the web design certificate program -- alas, I waited too long to make my decision to go back to school. I'm still holding out hope that I can crash the cert program class if there are a lot of no-shows. That would be cool.

Yup, the admin ass thing just wasn't working out. Nobody was even calling me back after a bazillion résumé faxings. I think that my salary history scared them off and they considered me "over-qualified." Apparently they want you to be proficient in every piece of software known to humankind for...$8.00 an hour. Yeah, right. I mean, if I'm going to earn slave wages, I'd rather be doing something I enjoy, fer crissakes. So, even though the web authoring field is rather overcrowded (heck, so's the clerical field), I thought I'd give it a shot anyway. I mean, it's not as if I know absolutely nothing about web design -- I've been noodling around with my pages since 1996. I just wish I'd learned HTML back in 1994, when the web was soooo new. The old Mosaic days. Sigh. Yep, the old days -- before animated gifs, frames and Flash. The days when we actually began reciting a URL with "http://..." instead of "whatever.com." Yeah, those days. If I'd only known...
