Christmas (Does it count if it's 11:00pm?)
December 25, 2001

As always, a belated entry and greeting...

Ho, ho, ho. This was my Christmas card design for the year...which I delayed creating until...oh...about a week before the holiday itself. I (hurriedly) created it using Photoshop 6.0 on my Mac G4 at City College. And, in keeping with my tradition of better-late-than-never entries...

Waiting, waiting, waiting...for that first check for my contract work at City college. The CalWorks office had lost my (first!) contract and so we had to draw up another one (they wouldn't accept a copy, nice of them). Then I had to fill out a W9 form -- which they hadn't told us about the first time. Now it's semester break and I'm hoping, hoping, hoping I'll get my check sometime next month (early, please?). It won't be much, barely enough to cover my bills -- but at least it'll be something.

In the meantime, I'm still looking for freelance Web work. I almost had a nice Flash project (thanks to one of my graphic artist friends), but the client's funding wouldn't be set until next year. Yargh! It would've been a bit of Flash programming work which could have netted me about 450 bucks. Yargh! Way things are going, I might end up working as a 'human directional.' (You know: the people standing in the middle of an intersection directing traffic. 'Human directional.' Hmmm, sounds like a neat title for a science fiction story...) I visited Net-Temps tonight and applied for two Web design contract jobs. Just like the googleplex of emails for Web jobs I've sent thus far...

Dratted economy.

Don't ask me about Mind Diver. I'll get to it. I know I have to finish the sucker. After all, I'm at 120 pages...
